You might say I stumbled upon weight exercises!!
I had seen many (apparently) tough guys flexing their muscles after coming out of the gym. So I entered the gym in my college for the first time out of curiosity to try and understand why the hell these people loved pushing and pulling weights again and again and grunting all the time!! How can so much pain be enjoyable!
I saw many of them (this was an all-men gym) with their shirts off their backs posing in front of the huge floor-to-roof mirrors and gloating like Narcissus! Okay. Not all of them were hunks… but the ones that weren’t, were looking up to those that were, and trying to become like the hunks of the gym!
Then I had a look on my own wiry frame in the mirror – thankfully I had my shirt on! But I could imagine what I would have looked like! What the heck! Why not give this stuff a try as well?
That is how I came to enroll in my first gym!
There are many ways to morph that unshapely figure looking back at you from the mirror into a John Abraham, a Nicolas Cage or a Demi Moore look-alike. I know of people who have bought just a pair of dumbbells and a skipping rope and have skipped their way to a more shapely figure. You might think of a complete home gym (now easily available in the market) if there is no good health club nearby, or your timings do not match with those of the club. Some guys have even worked out with only pushups, chin-ups, squats and crunches, without any equipment at all, and grown great shapes! What you chose is entirely up to you.
A fully equipped gym gives you the full range of exercises for all muscles and looking at the people working their sweat out around you might give you the kick needed to continue and get the best out of your exercises. The rest surely go easy on your pocket and your schedule while giving you decent results if you can stick to the program!
